Gun Collectors Dream Auction #69 Weapons of War!
Lot 1097:
British Mk III (Turtle) steel helmet from 1953. With original leather lining and straps. Marked on the inside "ROG U 1953 MA". The Mk III helmet was a steel military combat helmet first developed by the Medical Research Council for the British Army in 1941. First worn in combat by British and Canadian troops on D-Day, it was used for the remainder of World War II along with the Brodie helmet. Because of its vague resemblance to a tortoise shell, it is sometimes referred to as the "turtle helmet" by collectors. Please refer to pictures to make your own determination of authenticity..we are not war helmet experts.
