The scabbard shows signs of being honestly used. This indicates 1944 manufacture at the Jeffersonville Quarter Master Depot, which was located in Jeffersonville, Indiana. This location manufactured and repaired all manner of leather goods in use by the U.S. Army. Previously engaged in manufacturing a lot of equipment and tack for the cavalry, they are a known maker of the leather scabbards. These were attached to jeeps, motorcycles, horses and other transportation equipment to allow easy access to the weapon. M1 carbine versions are exceptionally hard to find, this is an ideal specimen for the Carbine or vehicle collector alike!
