lot contains one pre owned United States Navy Fighting Knife, Marked U.S.N. Mark 2 CAMILLUS, N.Y. (First introduced to the Marines in 1942, the Mark 2, also known by the trade name Ka-Bar, was later adopted by the Navy and served as the standard-issue fighting/utility knife from WWII through the Vietnam War.) comes with blade length of approx 7", very pointed and sharp. Overall length approx 12" Leather Handle (shows wear marks) comes with a Marked, U.S.N. MK2 Scabbard. There is U.S.N. MK2 on one side and the other is marked NORD-6581 B.M. Co. 7 (with a line over it) (Beckwith Manufacturing Company) VP….NORD-6581 Indicating June 1944 (N-ORD. N=Navy ORD= Ordnance or Bureau of Ordnance). Prior to the U.S. entry to WWII, Beckwith Manufacturing developed a new bayonet scabbard to replace it. The new scabbard consisted of a composite plastic material made from a combination of layered cotton ducking and Tenite. By heat treating the combination, it could be pressure molded into a solid shape. Note to self, so much information to research on these great Bayonets and scabbard, please refer to pictures as we try and picture are markings to clarify dates.
