Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1009:
Sold for: $45
Description
An Imperial German WWI Prussian Enlisted Man’s ‘Gott Mit Uns’ steel belt buckle. This rectangular military-style belt buckle features a raised central design of a crowned crest, characteristic of a Prussian or German imperial crown, encircled by a band bearing the German inscription “GOTT MIT UNS” (God With Us). A laurel or oak leaf wreath element is positioned below the crown. The reverse of the buckle retains its corresponding attachment mechanisms. The item is crafted from a base metal, consistent with steel or iron.
Condition report:
The item is in heavily worn and aged condition. The surface exhibits significant oxidation and corrosion, presenting a dark brown and greenish patina. There is notable surface degradation, pitting, and loss of the original finish across the buckle. Despite the heavy surface wear, the structural integrity of the buckle and its attachment mechanisms appears to be maintained.
