Description

An Argentine Model 1891 Mauser bayonet, manufactured by Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co. Solingen. This late 19th-century military bayonet features a steel blade with a fuller, a hooked steel quillon, and a steel pommel designed for rifle attachment. The grip is fitted with light-colored, vertically ribbed scales secured by two rivets. Markings on one side of the blade read “WEYERSBERG KIRSCHBAUM & CO SOLINGEN”. The reverse side of the blade bears a crowned “W” over “91”, indicating the year 1891, along with the serial number “N. 4549” and other inspection marks. The bayonet is accompanied by its dark metal scabbard, which is marked “N 1210” on its frog stud.

Condition report:

Overall fair condition. All steel components, including the blade and scabbard, exhibit significant surface wear, oxidation, and pitting. The scabbard shows finish loss and a visible dent. The grip scales display general use and discoloration.
