Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1069:
Sold for: $55
Description
A First War Austro-Hungarian Enlisted Man’s Belt Buckle, crafted from brass with a rich, dark patina and remnants of a gilded finish on the raised design elements. The obverse features an elaborate heraldic relief, prominently displaying the crowned double-headed eagle of Austria on the left and the crowned Hungarian coat of arms on the right, flanking a smaller crowned central escutcheon. A banner beneath these crests bears the Latin motto “INDIVISIBILITER” (Indivisibly) and “INSEPARABILITER” (Inseparably), separated by the letters “A.C.”. The reverse shows a standard two-prong and hinged hook clasp mechanism.
Condition report:
Good vintage condition. Exhibits significant surface wear, scratches, and discoloration commensurate with age and use. The dark patina is well-established. Remnants of original gilding are visible on raised elements. Structurally intact; the clasp mechanism appears functional.
