Description
An East German (GDR) Cold War period officer’s saber, complete with its accompanying scabbard. The saber features a polished, curved steel blade. The hilt is constructed from chromed metal with a D-guard, and the grip is ribbed black synthetic. A prominent circular medallion on the hilt displays the national emblem of the German Democratic Republic: a crossed hammer and compass on a red field, bordered by vertical black, red, and gold stripes on one side and a wreath motif on the other. The scabbard is made from black painted metal.
Condition report:
The scabbard exhibits significant paint loss and surface corrosion. The blade shows minor surface wear and smudges. Hilt components are largely intact with some light wear.
