Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1145:
Sold for: $25
Description
This group comprises historical ammunition components, consistent with mid-19th century firearms technology. It features several conical lead projectiles, commonly identified as Minie balls, which exhibit prominent cannelures and rifling marks. One projectile is displayed alongside fragments of a deteriorated, light brown paper cartridge wrapper. Additionally, there is a collection of approximately ten to twelve small, copper-toned percussion caps, each characterized by a distinctive four-petal internal structure and containing visible green-brown residue, indicating prior use. Some items are presented within three clear cylindrical plastic tubes: one tube contains a projectile resting on white granular material, and another tube holds two darker, conical objects.
Condition report:
Items display significant signs of age, oxidation, and wear, characteristic of excavated artifacts or long-term storage. The paper cartridge wrapper is deteriorated. Percussion caps show evidence of prior use.
