Lot 1166:
A Pair of Swedish Mauser M96 and Springfield 1903 Rifle Stocks
Sold for: $225
Description
The lot comprises two vintage military-style rifle stocks. One is identified as an original Swedish Mauser M96 rifle hardwood stock, featuring a dark, rich wood finish with a relatively smooth texture. The other is identified as a Springfield 1903 rifle stock, fashioned from a lighter, more weathered wood with a coarser grain. Both stocks conform to a typical bolt-action rifle design, featuring a buttstock, grip, and forend, with deep, open channels and cutouts indicating the absence of their intended mechanical components, such as receiver and barrel. Both include supplementary metal bands and sling swivels. No specific manufacturer markings or discernible text are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
Apparent condition for both is used and aged. The darker, Swedish Mauser M96 stock shows surface scratches and minor indentations. The lighter, Springfield 1903 stock presents with more pronounced weathering, a drier surface, and visible grime on its metal fittings, suggesting a rougher overall state.
