Description
A Japanese Arisaka Type 38 bolt-action rifle, manufactured at the Kokura Arsenal. This rifle features a blued steel barrel, receiver, and operating parts, paired with a full-length, reddish-brown hardwood stock. Visible markings on the receiver include a partially defaced Imperial Japanese Chrysanthemum crest, the characters “三十八式” (San-juu-hachi shiki, translating to “Type 38”), and the serial number “73889.” An arsenal mark, likely from Kokura (three interlocking circles), is present, along with an importer mark “3.5 J.A.R.” on the left side of the receiver.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits significant wear, including considerable bluing loss on all metal components. Surface corrosion is present on parts such as the buttplate and trigger guard. The wooden stock shows numerous scratches, dents, and finish wear. Overall, the rifle is in heavily used and aged condition.
