Description
A Swedish Mauser M96/38 bolt-action military rifle, manufactured by Waffenfabrik Mauser Oberndorff A/N in 1899, chambered in 6.5x55mm. The rifle is primarily constructed of blued steel and features a richly figured wooden stock. The receiver is marked “WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORFF A/N 1899” alongside the serial number “GE. 21482”. The bolt is marked with a matching “482”. The barrel bears later markings “M38 6.5X55 SWEDEN” and an import mark “CLASS DIST SWAN VT”. The rear sight is marked “METALLVERKEN VÄSTERÅS SMÅL.”. A brass disc on the stock displays Swedish ballistic terms including “Torped” (Torpedo), “överslag” (overrun/sight-over), and “str” (ballistic/strike).
Condition report:
Good to very good overall condition, showing expected wear and minor surface marks on both the wood and metal components consistent with its age and military service. The blued finish exhibits areas of thinning and minor abrasions. The wooden stock has various small dents, scratches, and handling marks commensurate with use. Mechanically appears sound, though functionality has not been tested.
