Description
An Austro-Hungarian Rast & Gasser Model 1898 Revolver. This antique, European-style revolver likely dates from the late 19th or early 20th century, featuring an open-top frame and a fluted cylinder. The construction is primarily steel, exhibiting a dark, aged patina. The grip panels are made of checkered wood. Visible markings include “ML 115159” repeated on the barrel and cylinder, and “PATENT L. GASSNER WIEN” (Patent L. Gasser Vienna) stamped on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard, followed by “CAL” and partially legible numbers/symbols. An additional marking “ML 17” is present on the top strap. A lanyard ring is attached to the butt of the grip.
Condition report:
The overall apparent condition is fair, consistent with considerable age and use. The steel exhibits significant surface wear and pitting throughout. The checkered wood grip panels show wear but appear largely intact. Mechanical functionality is not guaranteed and should be assessed by a qualified expert.
