Description
An original WWI German military-issue ammunition box, labeled for 16 sharp 9mm Luger pistol cartridges (Pistolenpatronen 08). The rectangular box is constructed from coarse cardboard with metal corner reinforcements and was originally sealed with a gray fabric strip. The paper label, printed in Fraktur script, states the contents as “16 scharfe Pistolenpatronen 08” and the manufacture date as “Gefertigt am 7. Oktober 1918 Mfc.” (Manufactured on 7. October 1918 Mfg.). Further details on the label include internal codes “B. B. R. (2703) 2. 2. /16. 3dh. 17 Sp” and component specifics “Hülsen C. Gesch. C. og.” (Casings C. Projectiles C. og.).
Condition report:
Fair condition. The cardboard exhibits significant discoloration, creasing, and surface wear consistent with age and storage. The original fabric sealing strip is frayed. General signs of age and handling are present throughout.
