Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1190:
Sold for: $275
Description
A group of Korean Military Surplus .30-06 M2 Ammunition. Comprising twelve bundles, of eight which are presented in partially open cardboard boxes, and two bundles fully loaded on metal stripper clips. Each visible stripper clip holds eight cartridges. One cardboard box is clearly marked in Korean with “20 ?” (20 rounds), “?? .30” (Caliber .30), “M2”, and “??” (Ammunition), indicating a total of approximately 96 rounds. The cartridges feature brass casings and copper-jacketed pointed bullets. A detailed view of a single cartridge shows a red ring around its primer. While the box is marked ‘M2’ (typically associated with ball ammunition), a red primer ring is sometimes used to denote tracer rounds or specific manufacturing characteristics in various military ammunitions, particularly from Korean production.
Condition report:
The overall condition suggests age and wear. Some metal stripper clips exhibit surface rust and corrosion. The cardboard packaging shows signs of damage, tearing, and general deterioration. The cartridges themselves appear tarnished.
