Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1211:
Sold for: $30
Description
A group of approximately 70-80 individual rifle cartridges, visually consistent with 8mm Mauser (7.92x57mm Mauser) ammunition, characterized by their brass casings and copper-colored, pointed projectiles. Visible headstamps on the bases of select cartridges include “LC 69”, “LC 67”, and “FN 72”. The “LC” marking typically denotes Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (USA), and “FN” refers to Fabrique Nationale de Herstal (Belgium), with the accompanying numbers indicating production years of 1967, 1969, and 1972 respectively. The presence of Lake City headstamps suggests the potential inclusion of US military calibers such as .30-06 Springfield within the group, alongside the visually similar Mauser-type rounds.
Condition report:
The overall apparent condition is varied, with some cartridges exhibiting tarnish and minor surface wear consistent with age and storage, while others appear relatively clean.
