Description
A U.S. Model 1909 Bolo Knife by Springfield Armory, dated 1913. This robust, single-edged utility knife features a broad, curved steel blade. Markings on one side of the blade near the hilt include “S A” over a flaming bomb ordnance symbol and the date “1913”. The opposing side of the blade is marked “U.S.” vertically above “10522”. The dark wooden handle is secured by three brass rivets. A steel guard separates the handle from the blade. A small metal cap appears to reinforce the pommel.
Condition report:
The blade is heavily patinated with dark discoloration, pitting, and apparent edge chipping, consistent with significant age and use. The wooden handle exhibits wear, scratches, and a notable crack near the pommel. Overall condition is heavily aged with notable wear and corrosion.
