Sold for: $575
Description
A Persian Mauser Model 98/29 8mm Czech Contract Bolt-Action Military Rifle, featuring a full-stock design crafted from reddish-brown hardwood and blued steel components. The receiver is stamped with a prominent Pahlavi sunburst national crest of Iran. Eastern Arabic numerals are present on the tangent rear sight, indicating range settings from 4 to 20 hundred meters (٤, ٦, ٨, ١٠, ١٢, ١٤, ١٦, ١٨, ٢٠). The bolt handle displays the Eastern Arabic numerals “١٣٢٧”, corresponding to approximately 1948 CE in the Persian Solar Hijri calendar. Additional faint markings include “F7123” on the receiver and “MIA FL 2” on the barrel, likely an import mark from Miami, Florida. The rifle appears structurally complete.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits considerable cosmetic wear, including numerous scratches, dents, and areas of finish loss on both the wood stock and metal surfaces, consistent with active service and age. The bluing shows significant thinning and wear in areas. The wood has numerous dings and impressions. Mechanically appears complete, but functionality has not been tested.
