Lot 1324:
Sold for: $40
Description
A U.S. Army World War II packboard manufactured by American Seating Company, dated 1944. This military-style carrying frame features an olive green painted metal frame and a heavy olive green canvas panel. The canvas is laced to the frame via metal grommets and cord. It is fitted with adjustable olive drab webbing shoulder straps with metal buckles. Visible markings on the top of the metal frame include “AMERICAN SEATING CO.”, “O.Q. 5513-4 X-C”, and a clear date of “9-8-44”. A faint “U.S.” stamp is also visible on the reverse side of the top frame, confirming its military issue.
Condition report:
The item exhibits signs of age and use consistent with its military purpose and period. There are scuffs and scratches on the painted metal frame, along with some surface discoloration and minor rust. The canvas and webbing show expected wear, but the item appears to be largely intact and functional. No significant structural damage or major repairs are evident.
