Lot 1340:
Three Boxes of Yugoslavian 7.9mm Metak M49 8mm Mauser Rifle Ammunition
Sold for: $25
Description
A group of three small, rectangular, light brown cardboard boxes containing 7.9mm (8mm Mauser) rifle ammunition. Each box is labeled in Cyrillic, indicating “15 pieces” per box. One box specifies “7.9 mm cartridge with universal bullet M 49,” while the other two detail “7.9 mm rifle cartridge, 15 pcs., with heavy bullet, powder ‘Pb’,” and are dated “12-1953.” Retail stickers on the reverse, bearing “Jax Outdoor” branding, further identify the contents as “8mm Yugo 198Gr Lead” surplus ammunition. The visible metallic cartridges feature tarnished brass casings and copper-jacketed projectiles, with one primer displaying a distinct pink/purple hue.
Condition report:
The cardboard boxes exhibit wear, creasing, and some staining consistent with age and storage. The metallic cartridges show tarnishing to the brass casings. A distinct pink/purple hue on one primer is noted, which can be indicative of corrosive primers, common in surplus ammunition of this era.
