Description

A German WWII K98 Mauser Bayonet, complete with its accompanying metal scabbard and black leather frog. The bayonet features a sharpened, single-edged metal blade with a fuller. The grip is dark reddish-brown and ribbed, secured by two rivets, likely constructed from wood or a synthetic material such as bakelite. Metal hilt components include a crossguard and a pommel with a rifle attachment mechanism. Visible markings on the blade include the numbers “0991” and “44” on one side, and “0491” on the reverse. The ’44’ marking indicates a manufacturing year of 1944.

Condition report:

Used condition. The metal components of the bayonet and scabbard exhibit surface wear, scratches, and a dark patina consistent with age and active use. The leather frog appears aged, dry, and worn, with some cracking and stiffening, also consistent with active use. The blade shows signs of sharpening and use.
