Description
A German 1914 Iron Cross 2nd Class with 1939 Clasp, a military decoration. The item is affixed to a black and white striped ribbon. The cross itself is of multi-piece construction, featuring a blackened iron core with a silver-toned metal frame. The obverse of the cross displays a stylized “W” (for Wilhelm II), a Prussian crown, and the date “1914” at the bottom arm. The reverse side of the cross features oak leaves, a crown, and the date “1813”. Suspended above the cross on the ribbon are two silver-toned clasps: the top clasp depicts a stylized German eagle (Reichsadler) clutching a swastika, while the lower clasp bears the date “1939”.
Condition report:
Overall good condition for its age, showing some expected minor wear. There is slight tarnishing on the metal components and some fraying on the fabric ribbon, with a small pink thread visible near the suspension ring.
