Description
A National Defense Service Medal, identified by web intelligence as Vietnamese-made. This circular, bronze-toned military service medal is suspended from a folded fabric ribbon. The obverse features a prominent spread-winged eagle with the inscription “NATIONAL DEFENSE” arched above, and an olive branch and arrows below. The reverse displays a rectangular shield-like emblem with horizontal lines at the top and vertical lines below, flanked by a decorative laurel wreath design. The grosgrain ribbon is predominantly orange-red, with a central broad yellow stripe bordered by narrower white and blue vertical stripes, and is secured on its reverse by a metal safety pin clasp.
Condition report:
Considerable tarnish and wear to the medal. The ribbon shows signs of fading, creasing, and minor fraying, all consistent with age and use.
