Its reverse displays vertical kanji characters within a rectangular cartouche, reading “昭和二十五年御大典記念章” (Shōwa Nijūgonen Gotaiten Kinen Shō), translating to “Shōwa 25th Year Imperial Grand Ceremony Commemorative Medal” (1950), bordered by laurel and frond designs. The medal is suspended from a gold-toned bar engraved with “従軍記章” (Jūgun kishō), meaning “War Medal” or “Service Medal,” which is affixed to a folded ribbon presenting vertical stripes of cream, light blue, and a central darker blue.
