Description
A Schmidt-Rubin M1896/11 straight-pull bolt action military rifle, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The rifle is constructed with a reddish-brown wooden stock and blued steel components. The receiver bears the serial number “316239” along with a “P” and a proof mark. The bolt is marked “516259” and the magazine floorplate “473786”, indicating mixed parts. The buttstock features the numbers “60102” and “112” with a circular cartouche, and is fitted with a riveted, tan leather cheek rest. A brass-toned component is present at the muzzle, which also includes a fixed bayonet lug.
Condition report:
The rifle exhibits considerable wear consistent with age and use. The wooden stock shows numerous scratches, dents, and areas of finish loss. Metal components display patination and finish thinning. The serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, and magazine floorplate are non-matching.
