Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 1580:
Sold for: $700
Description
A U.S. Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol, likely dating to the early 19th century. The pistol is constructed with a dark wooden stock and grip, and ferrous metal components for the barrel, lock plate, hammer, frizzen, trigger guard, butt plate, and three barrel bands. A brass or similar yellow-metal frizzen spring is visible within the mechanism. While some faint, unreadable decorative engraving is apparent on the metal butt plate, no clear textual markings or maker’s signatures are discernible on this example.
Condition report:
The pistol is in a fair to poor state of preservation. It exhibits extensive surface corrosion, pitting, and rust on all metal parts. The wooden elements show significant wear, dents, and finish loss. The ramrod is visibly absent. The mechanism\'s functionality cannot be guaranteed without further inspection.
