Description
A Japanese Type 94 military bayonet with its accompanying metal scabbard. The bayonet features a robust, single-edged steel blade with a curved clip point, a steel crossguard incorporating a muzzle ring, and two wooden grip panels secured by rivets. Visible markings on the blade’s ricasso include a stylized Japanese Imperial Chrysanthemum crest above two stamped characters, “九四” (kyū yon), which translates to “nine four” and indicates a Type 94 model.
Condition report:
Considerable surface corrosion, pitting, and extensive rust are present on the blade, guard, and scabbard. The wooden grips are worn, chipped, and discolored. Overall, the item is in fair to poor, heavily used condition, consistent with significant age and exposure.
