Lot 1589:
Sold for: $750
Description
A Colt U.S. Army Model 1917 New Service .45 ACP Double Action Revolver. Constructed from steel, the revolver features a swing-out cylinder and smooth wooden grip panels. Prominent markings on the barrel include “COLT D.A. .45” and “COLT’S PT. F. A. MFG CO. HARTFORD, CT U.S.A.” with patent dates of August 5, 1884, June 5, 1900, and July 4, 1905. The butt of the grip is clearly marked “U.S. ARMY MODEL 1917 No 15785,” while the crane displays the serial number “165681.” A rearing horse (Colt pony) logo is visible on the left side of the frame, alongside a circular “H R” inspection mark near the hammer.
Condition report:
Fair condition. The original blued finish is largely worn to a grey patina with visible surface wear and scattered pitting throughout. The wooden grips are intact but show overall wear. The revolver appears structurally complete.
