Description

A vintage United States Army U.M.C. Co. percussion cap tin, likely dating to the Civil War or WWI era, containing a group of percussion caps. The round metal tin, constructed from tin-plated steel, features a lithographed lid. The yellow surface of the lid is printed with black text: “UNITED STATES ARMY CAPS.”, “100 U.M.C. CO.”, “Bridgeport, Conn.”, and “WATERPROOF.”, encircling a central graphic of an eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch with radiating lines. The tin contains numerous small, cylindrical, copper-toned objects with either green or orange tops, consistent with percussion caps or primers.

Condition report:

Apparent condition indicates significant age and wear. The exterior lid and base exhibit extensive paint loss, scratches, scuffs, fading, and prominent rust and pitting. The interior appears relatively cleaner with some signs of age.
