Description

A Remington Rolling Block No. 1 Navy Carbine, manufactured by E. Remington & Sons, Ilion, N.Y. U.S.A., with patent dates ranging from May 3, 1864, to March 18, 1874. Constructed from steel and a reddish-brown wooden stock. It features an external hammer, a simple blade front sight, and a sling swivel ring on the left side of the receiver. The carbine exhibits a single barrel band.

Condition report:

The apparent condition reflects significant age and use. There is widespread loss of the original metal finish, presenting a mottled grey-silver patina with areas of darker discoloration and light pitting on the barrel and receiver. The wooden stock shows numerous dents, scratches, and wear to its finish, but appears structurally intact without major breaks.
