A British / Indian Ishapore Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk III* .410 Shotgun Conversion Rifle. This bolt-action military rifle features a dark stained wooden stock and forend, with blued steel metal components including the barrel, receiver, and bolt assembly. It is fitted with a khaki-colored woven canvas sling. Prominent markings on the receiver include a crowned “G.R.I. 1943 No.1.Mk III*”, indicating a 1943 manufacture date, along with the serial number “68693” and the letter “B”. The bolt assembly is marked “40 RFI 1946”, denoting a manufacturing or refurbishment date by Rifle Factory Ishapore and indicating its conversion to .410 gauge. Further visible markings on the buttstock include circular “JOD” and “D T E W” motifs, the number “10”, and a painted “6”. The brass buttplate is marked “C H”.
Condition report:
Fair to good condition. The wooden stock and forend exhibit expected wear, including dents, scratches, and minor abrasions consistent with military service. Metal components show areas of finish loss, particularly on high points and edges, with some bluing thinning and minor surface oxidation. The canvas sling shows commensurate wear and discoloration. Mechanically appears sound, but functionality is not guaranteed and professional inspection is recommended.
