Description
A Japanese Type 99 Arisaka bolt-action military rifle, manufactured by Nagoya Arsenal. This rifle features a wooden stock and blued steel components, with an attached canvas sling. Prominent markings on the receiver include the Imperial Chrysanthemum emblem (菊紋, kikumon), the Kanji characters “九九式” (Kyuukyuu-shiki) translating to “Type 99,” and serial number “35098.” An arsenal mark, identified by consensus as Nagoya, is present to the left of the serial number. The rifle is chambered in 7.7x58mm Arisaka.
Condition report:
The wooden stock exhibits significant cosmetic wear, including numerous scratches, dents, and areas of finish loss consistent with extensive use. Metal components show expected signs of age and handling, such as bluing wear, minor surface pitting, and some localized oxidation. The overall structural integrity appears sound.
