Description
An Austro-Hungarian Army WWI Era Enlisted Ranks Brass Belt Buckle. This rectangular, cast brass or bronze belt buckle features a prominent relief of a crowned double-headed eagle with outstretched wings. The eagle holds an orb in its right talon and a scepter in its left, bearing a central shield on its chest. Each head is surmounted by a small crown, with a larger imperial-style crown positioned above both. The reverse shows a standard single-prong buckle fitting and retaining bar, consistent with the same material.
Condition report:
Worn condition, displaying numerous surface scratches, minor dents, and a heavily oxidized, uneven dark brown and green patina, particularly on the reverse, where some verdigris is visible.
