Lot 236:
Assorted Military Ammunition Lot with Stripper Clips, including 7.62mm and .308 Lebel Rounds
Sold for: $200
Description
This lot presents a diverse collection of military-style ammunition rounds and associated loading mechanisms. The cartridges primarily feature brass casings with various bullet types, including copper-jacketed Spitzer points, rounded tips, and exposed lead-nosed projectiles, some distinguished by orange or grey colored tips. Accompanying these are several metal stripper clips, ranging in appearance from tarnished brass/bronze tones to dull grey steel, and one larger en-bloc style clip incorporating a distressed wooden block and a rope tie. Visible markings include “S.M.I.” and “80” with a star on a copper-toned stripper clip. Cartridge headstamps clearly show “P.R.A.S. 1963 7,62” on some rounds, indicating a 7.62mm caliber and 1963 manufacturing date, while another cartridge is marked “P.R.A.S. 308 LEBEL”. A large lead-nosed cartridge also bears a handwritten “V.X. 4” mark.
Condition report:
The items exhibit mixed condition, showing varying degrees of tarnish, oxidation, surface corrosion, and wear consistent with age and prior storage, particularly evident on the clips and some cartridge surfaces.
