Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 253:
Sold for: $130
Description
An early 20th Century Nepalese Kukri knife, characterized by its distinctive forward-curving, broad metal blade that tapers to a pointed tip, and a dark wooden handle with a flared pommel and incised rings, separated from the blade by a metal bolster. The blade features a “cho” notch near the hilt and a fuller along the spine. Visible engraved Devanagari script on one side of the blade reads “का प्र श राट श्री ३ चन्द्” (Ka Pra Sha Raat Shri 3 Chand), with “Shri 3 Chand” likely referring to Chandra Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana (Nepal, 1901-1929).
Condition report:
The overall condition is aged, with the metal blade exhibiting extensive surface wear, scratches, dulling, and scattered spots of reddish-brown rust/patina. The wooden handle shows wear consistent with age and use.
