Description

A Japanese Murata Type 22 bolt-action rifle, likely chambered in 8x53mmR. This military rifle features a dark-stained wooden stock with a checkered grip area and blued steel components. The receiver bears prominent Japanese characters translating to “日本武尊” (Yamato Takeru) and “日清日露戦役記念” (Commemorating the Sino-Japanese and Russo-Japanese Wars), alongside an Imperial Japanese Chrysanthemum mark and a serial number “147424.” The rifle dates to the early 20th century, consistent with its commemorative inscriptions.

Condition report:

Fair to good used condition, exhibiting typical wear for a service weapon. The wooden stock shows scratches, dings, and areas of finish loss. The blued steel components display finish loss, patina, and surface oxidation consistent with age and use.
