Lot 315:
Sold for: $300
Description
An Argentine Model 1879 Remington Rolling Block Carbine, .43 Spanish, manufactured by E. Remington & Sons. This single-shot firearm is primarily constructed of blued steel with a rich brown wooden stock and fore-end, and is accompanied by a worn leathersling. The receiver is marked “E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N. Y. U.S.A.” along with multiple patent dates, the latest clearly legible being September 9, 1873. The barrel bears the designation “MODELO ARGENTINO, 1879 E. N.”. An adjustable rearsight marked “WILLIAMS” is present, suggesting a potential aftermarket or replacement component. The wooden stock displays several faint stamped numbers and an oval cartouche impression.
Condition report:
Good antique condition. The metal components exhibit wear, scratches, and thinning of the bluing consistent with age and use. The wooden stock and fore-end show numerous dings and scratches but appear structurally sound. The leather sling is worn.
