Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 335:
Sold for: $80
Description
A Swedish M1896 Mauser Bayonet with Scabbard and Frog. The bayonet features a double-edged, spear-point steel blade with a central fuller. It has a steel crossguard including a rifle attachment ring, and a knurled metal grip culminating in a pommel with a lug release mechanism. Visible markings include a crown symbol above the serial number “920” on one side of the blade’s ricasso, “E.A.B.” on the opposite ricasso, and another crown symbol with an “FJ” monogram and “B” below it on the crossguard. The accompanying scabbard is constructed from aged brown leather, reinforced with a steel chape, and includes a leather frog secured by a steel buckle and metal rivets.
Condition report:
The bayonet and scabbard display considerable wear, surface scratches, and a dark patina consistent with age and use. There is some minor pitting and discoloration on the metal components. The leather scabbard and frog show scuffing, creasing, and loss of original finish, yet remain structurally sound.
