Description

A group of two U.S. Army military canteens, dating from the WWI and WWII periods, accompanied by two canvas covers, two web belts, and one additional metal canteen cup. The canteens are kidney-shaped and crafted from aluminum or similar lightweight metal. Two canteens feature screw caps, one silver-colored metal with a chain attachment, and one black plastic. The two canvas covers are distinct, one olive green and the other khaki/tan, both equipped with metal snap closures and brass eyelets designed for attachment to matching web belts. The khaki cover is stenciled “U.S.” above “163”, with “P A 05807” faintly marked inside its flap. One exposed metal canteen bottom is stamped “5 U.S. ACA1913”, while another canteen’s base shows “U.S. S.M.CO. 43”. The metal canteen cup has “6 D.A.T. CO 19” stamped on its folding handle. These markings indicate manufacture dates of 1913, 1919, and 1943.

Condition report:

All components display significant signs of age and field use. Condition is consistent with military origin and includes extensive fading and staining to the canvas covers, minor fabric tears, metal dents and scratches on the canteens and cup, and some surface corrosion on metal elements.
