Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 368:
Sold for: $30
Description
A collection of military insignia, prominently featuring items related to the British Special Air Service (SAS). This includes two embroidered fabric patches: a black shield-shaped patch with a winged dagger and “WHO DARES WINS” motto, and a bronze-toned metallic pin of the same design, identified by an accompanying paper label as a “Special Air Service Regiment (SAS) cap badge” and related items. Also present is an oval embroidered fabric patch with “CANADA” arched over a flying eagle, likely a Canadian military insignia. A large, silver-toned oval badge features a central cross and caduceus, marked “STERLING” and “G.I.” on the reverse, consistent with a medical corps insignia. Two smaller, identical silver-toned badges display red, white, and blue enamel stripes flanking an “E,” marked “STERLING” and “JASCO” on their backs, suggesting achievement badges. A small, gold-toned circular pin depicts an eagle. A silver-toned submarine insignia, flanked by dolphins, is marked “STERLING” on the reverse and is accompanied by a paper label reading “STERLING W.W. II,” indicating a World War II era U.S. Navy Submarine Warfare Insignia.
Condition report:
Good condition overall. Light surface wear, tarnishing, and minor discoloration consistent with age and use. Enamel on \'E\' badges is intact. Fabric patches show minor fraying to edges. Pins and clasps appear functional. Some items remain attached to original descriptive labels.
