Description

An Austrian Mannlicher M1895 Bayonet with its matching steel scabbard. The bayonet features a single-edged steel blade with a prominent blood groove, a steel crossguard incorporating a muzzle ring, and a steel pommel with a functional-appearing locking button. The grip is composed of two dark brown wooden panels secured by two rivets. Visible markings include a stylized chrysanthemum symbol and faint additional characters on one side of the ricasso, along with the stacked letters “GE WG” on the reverse side, consistent with the “OE WG” mark of Oesterreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft, Steyr. The crossguard is stamped with the numbers “81”, “87”, and “18”. The accompanying scabbard is constructed from blued steel, showing a textured finish and a loop attachment point on the reverse.

Condition report:

Both components exhibit wear, scratches, and areas of surface patination or light rust consistent with age and use, but appear structurally intact.
