Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 397:
Sold for: $1,250
Description
An antique military long gun, identified as a U.S. Model 1819 Hall breech-loading rifle, originally produced as a flintlock and subsequently converted to percussion. The rifle is predominantly constructed from dark-stained wood and patinated iron/steel. It features a distinctive pivoting breech block mechanism with an external hammer. Visible markings on the top of the breech block clearly read “J.H. HALL FERRY U.S. 1832”, indicating manufacture by J.H. Hall at Harpers Ferry, United States, in the year 1832. A ramrod is present beneath the barrel.
Condition report:
Good antique condition, showing expected wear, numerous scratches, and dings to the wooden stock. A deep, aged patina and surface wear are present on all metal components, including the barrel, bands, and lock mechanism. The rifle appears to be a period percussion conversion.
