A German WWII Black Wound Badge, 1939. Constructed from a darkened non-ferrous metal, likely zinc or a similar alloy. The distinct symbology strongly suggests a period of origin during Nazi Germany (1933-1945).
Condition report:
The item exhibits substantial wear, notable loss of its original finish, and surface pitting. The reverse reveals a horizontal pin-back attachment and widespread reddish-brown corrosion and rust, particularly around the edges and pin mechanism, consistent with the overall aged and deteriorated condition of the piece. The pin mechanism appears intact but shows corrosion.
