Lot 416:
Austrian 11mm Mannlicher Ammunition, 20 Rounds, with Clips and Original Boxes, 1883
Sold for: $35
Description
A lot of Austrian 11mm Mannlicher Ammunition, designated as 20 rounds, comprising two original heavily distressed, empty, orange-brown cardboard boxes, likely military ammunition packaging, and two tarnished metal stripper clips, each loaded with five brass-cased cartridges (total 10 cartridges). The boxes bear faded stamped black text, consistently including “10 St. f. Rep. Gewehr.” (10 rounds for Repeating Rifle), “S. schf. Patr. M. 1886.” (Live Cartridge Model 1886), and “W.F. Neustadt A. 1883,” indicating manufacture in Wiener Neustadt, Austria, in 1883, for the M. 1886 cartridge type. The brass-cased cartridges feature oxidized bullet tips with orange bands and exhibit headstamps including “W.F.” and “83”, corroborating the box markings.
Condition report:
Both the cardboard boxes, which show tears, creases, and discoloration, and the metal components, which display extensive oxidation, pitting, and corrosion, are in a poor, aged condition.
