Lot 422:
British Enfield No. 4 MKII Spike Bayonet with Scabbard
Sold for: $55
Description
A British Enfield No. 4 MKII Spike Bayonet with Scabbard. The item consists of an antique military socket bayonet and its corresponding metallic scabbard. Both pieces are fabricated from darkened steel or iron. The bayonet features a distinct socket attachment mechanism and a tapered, cruciform blade. Faint, largely illegible markings appear on the bayonet’s socket, while the scabbard is visibly marked with the numbers “53” in worn yellow paint.
Condition report:
Both pieces exhibit significant wear, surface pitting, and loss of original finish, consistent with age and extensive use. The overall apparent condition of both components is poor to fair, indicating a long operational history and exposure.
