The same serial number ‘M 8957’ is also present on the scabbard’s throat. Both the bayonet and scabbard are constructed from steel or iron.
Condition report:
Fair to poor condition. The bayonet and scabbard exhibit extensive surface rust and pitting throughout all metal components. General wear is evident on the blade, crossguard, grip, pommel, and scabbard. The ribbed metal grip panels show signs of age and handling commensurate with their military use.
