Description
A US Model 1886 Mills Cartridge Belt for the .45-70 caliber. This dark, woven fabric cartridge belt features a brass buckle embossed with “US” within an oval. It includes numerous individual loops designed to hold cartridges and is fastened with several brass connecting plates. One of these plates is visibly stamped with “PAT. MILLS & ORNDORFF” and a series of patent dates: AUG. 26.’67, JULY 31.’77, DEC. 30.’80, MAR. 19.’89, OCT. 31.’93, and SEPT. 19.’93.
Condition report:
Fair to good antique condition. The woven fabric exhibits discoloration and wear consistent with age and use. Brass elements show a natural patina and minor surface corrosion.
