Gun Collectors Dream Auction #79 Weapons of War
Lot 77:
Sold for: $160
Description
A collection of approximately twenty-four to twenty-five Egyptian Greener Mark 1 Police Shotgun Shells, 12/14 Gauge, dated 1964, presented in their original cardboard box. The box exterior features a utilitarian green and white target-like graphic, a yellow cylindrical element, and prominent Arabic text along with the number “25.” The translated Arabic on the box indicates “cartridge/shotshell,” “Greener New Model/Type,” “Lot number 4,” and a “Packing date: July 22, 1964,” followed by “Mark 1.” The brass casings inside present two styles: some with a flat brass base and others featuring a distinctive star crimp at the mouth, revealing a reddish-brown material within. These shells are associated with Greener’s Police Gun Mark III, a Martini action shotgun used by British Colonial Police forces, particularly in Egypt, during the early 1900s. Such Greener 12/14 gauge shells are considered scarce and collectible, especially a full box.
Condition report:
The cardboard box shows significant surface wear, creasing, and discoloration consistent with age and storage. The brass casings display tarnishing and some surface oxidation. Contents appear complete as described.
