Description

A box of 20 Peters Cartridge Co. WW1 Era M1911 .45 ACP Pistol Ball Cartridges. The vintage cardboard box contains 20 brass-cased pistol ball cartridges. The prominent label on the front details the contents as “20 PISTOL BALL CARTRIDGES, Cal. .45,” specifying “MODEL OF 1911” for “AUTOMATIC PISTOL, Cal. .45, Model of 1911,” and mentioning “Smokeless Powder” with a “Muzzle Velocity 800 ± 25 feet per second.” The label further identifies “K-Bull’s Eye Powder, Army Lot No. 77 of 1918,” and states manufacture by “THE PETERS CARTRIDGE Co., King’s Mills, O.,” with “Class 47, Division 1, Drawing 5.” The interior top flap displays a “NOTICE” with instructions for post-firing shell care. The bottom exterior of the box bears a faded, handwritten or stamped purple mark that reads “ATB57 4.16 63.” The visible cartridges appear tarnished and oxidized, with one cartridge distinctively featuring a silver-colored bullet tip contrasting with its brass casing, differentiating it from the surrounding cartridges.

Condition report:

The cardboard box is in poor condition, exhibiting significant wear, discoloration, creasing, and tearing, particularly on the top flap. The cartridges are tarnished and oxidized.
