Description
A Remington Model 12-A pump-action rifle, constructed of blued steel and wood. The barrel is marked “MODEL 12-A,” “REMINGTON ARMS-UNION METALLIC CARTRIDGE CO. REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, N.Y. U.S.A.,” and “PEDERSEN’S PATENTS” with dates ranging from January 5, 1909, to April 16, 1912, indicating an early 20th-century manufacture. Further barrel markings specify “.22 SHORT LONG OR LONG RIFLE” caliber, with “Remington TRADE MARK” present near the receiver. The top of the receiver bears the letters “RW” and the serial number “452891.” The rifle features a dark stained wood stock and a grooved pump-action forend. A black, checkered buttplate, marked “REMINGTON UMC,” is fitted to the stock.
Condition report:
The metal components exhibit significant surface wear, extensive oxidation, and pitting, with most of the original blued finish no longer present. The dark stained wood stock and grooved pump-action forend show numerous scratches, dents, and areas of finish loss, consistent with heavy handling and age. Overall condition is fair to poor.
