This lot comprises a vintage sap or bludgeon and its accompanying custom-fit leather sheath. The bludgeon is a cylindrical object constructed from tightly braided black leather, terminating in a weighted, bulbous end, and appears to contain an internal core. Its custom-fit sheath is fashioned from braided brown leather, featuring a closed, rounded end and an integrated leather strap forming a loop. No visible manufacturer’s markings or text are discernible on either item.
Condition report:
Both items show considerable signs of age and use. The bludgeon\'s weighted end exhibits significant surface loss, flaking, and cracking of the black outer layer, revealing a lighter substrate. The leather on both pieces displays scuffing, drying, and discoloration consistent with age and handling.
